My very 1st workout after having Ava was tough.
My core strength was zip. It was tough to tighten my muscles. My baby belly was stretched. I could hold a plank for a grand total of about 3 seconds.
I felt like I was starting all over from the beginning.
And you know what? ALL of this was OK! It was 110% totally OK!
In so many ways, I was absolutely in AWE that my body could grow and change for a second time to create this amazing little life! WOW!!!
Our stretchy skin is just what happens after we carry & bring into this world these incredible miracles! It's pretty amazing how our bodies can change and create LIFE!
But I also wondered if it would even be possible for my stretched skin to return. It was very different than when I had Lila. I wanted to feel strong again - that was my goal.
So what did I do? I gave myself grace. I gave myself time. I told myself to take things one day at a time. I breathed deeply when I'd start to get overwhelmed.
During this 1st workout, my goal was to keep perspective. That was it.
I told myself that I would "put my blinders on" when it came to my workouts.
I didn't attach a "bad" or "good" so much as "I'm doing my best with where I am"... and that was good enough. And then, I'd "rinse and repeat" the next day.
Becoming emotional about "where I wasn't" wasn't going to help. Instead, I put that emotional energy into positive action.
I listened to positive, uplifting music. #klove
I spoke kind words to myself when the negative ones would creep in - this was an INTENTIONAL action. I ate foods that I knew would increase my energy, not zap it!
And I promised myself that every time I would pass a mirror - and my eyes would immediately start to gravitate to spots I wanted to improve - I would stop.
Instead, I gave thanks for my baby, for my health, my family, for ALL the amazing blessings in my life. I ACTIVELY decided to do this.
But by doing this, it also shifted my focus. It freed up my energy & changed my emotions.
It put me back in control of thinking positive thoughts rather than allowing negative ones to creep in.
And day by day, I became stronger. It wasn't overnight - but it was consistent. And those little drops of consistency turned into positive changes. And I KNEW that whatever my body was after this pregnancy was ok.
I hear from so many women that they "just don't feel like themselves" after pregnancy or that they want to make time for themselves again ... and really, that's totally understandable. We go through a LOT of changes. But it's also possible to regain strength, feel strong, and be comfortable in your clothes.

For most people, the idea of never being "allowed" to eat lasagna again ... or almost anything Italian style ... just doesn't work. On top of that, if you are following a restrictive approach to eating, you're just going to feel guilty when you DO end up eating Italian foods.
Let's back up a quick sec! Change the recipe slightly ... eat your Italian dinner with JOY ... and start enjoying every single meal!
Italian Lasagna Rollups and Eggplant Rounds
Dinner Recipe Serves 4-6
1 Box Explore Cuisine Lentil Lasagna Noodles (or brown rice lasagna noodles)
1 Large Eggplant
2 Bags of Frozen Organic Spinach
2 Organic Eggs
1 1/2 Cups of Part Skim Ricotta
2-3 Cups of Marinara Sauce (I really like Muir Glen marinara sauce!)
4 oz. of Part Skim Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Garlic and Onion Powder (optional)
Fresh or Dried Chopped Oregano or Basil (optional)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Fill a large pot with water and bring up to a boil.
3. While water is heating, slice the eggplant into 1/4-1/2" disks and lay out over a pan lined with tin foil or parchment paper coated in olive oil spray. Sprinkle the eggplant slices with a tiny bit of salt and let them sit on the tray.
(The eggplant will begin to "sweat" and release water droplets on the surface - very cool - and very important so you don't have soggy lasagna!)
4. Defrost the 2 bags of spinach in a large microwave safe bowl. You could also defrost it the night before in the refrigerator, if you remember. Squeeze out all of the excess liquid from the spinach using a cheese cloth, kitchen towel, or your hands.
(If you have time, I personally like to sautee the spinach with a little olive oil, garlic & onions. It gives it a great flavor!)
5. To the boiled water, add lasagna noodles for just 2-3 minutes so they become rollable. Dab up the water from the sweaty eggplants and pop into the oven for just 2-3 minutes to soften them further.
6. To the drained spinach, add the eggs and ricotta, and any spices you like such as garlic, onion, basil, and oregano. Mix to combine.
7. Take out the lasagna noodles and separate them. To a large baking dish, add a little marinara on the bottom. Next, lay out a lasagna noodle, spread a thin layer of the spinach mix, then roll up and place in the dish. Repeat.
8. Take out the eggplant, and make a sandwich with the spinach filling (seen above).
9. Top both dishes with some tomato sauce and cheese and bake for about 20 minutes until cheese gets bubbly.

Can I access 2B Mindset on Beachbody On Demand?
2B Mindset is on it’s own platform separate from Beachbody On Demand. It is called our Nutrition Platform. You will purchase this product and you will have forever access to the resources.
When is 2B Mindset Launching?
2B Mindset launches on May 2nd on the Nutrition tab on Beachbody On Demand. On June 4th 2B Mindset will also launch the Beachbody Nutrition + App. Anyone who purchases 2B Mindset will have access to stream the program on the nutrition tab of Beachbody ON Demand and also the app.
Can I exercise while doing 2B?
Yes you can exercise but it is not required. It is considered extra credit.
If you are going to do a program like 80 day obsession you can choose to forgo the 80 day nutrition plan and do the 2B Mindset eating! Totally up to you!
Can you do 2B Mindset if you are pregnant or nursing?
2B Mindset is a weight loss program. Since pregnant mothers should be gaining weight and not losing weight, it is not advised that they follow 2B Mindset during pregnancy. For breastfeeding mothers, La Leche League International advises to wait at least two months before making any drastic effort to lose weight in order to allow your body to recover and ensure a steady milk supply. Keep in mind that breastfeeding women may naturally lose one to four pounds per month simply due to the amount of energy required to nurse in the first place.

I really don't know why it's taken me SO long! I LOVE the idea of quick, grab-and-go egg muffins for breakfast or a snack! They always LOOK amazing - and seem SO easy!

Is Shakeology Really Worth It??

Ok everyone!! We've waited for it all year and it's finally here! We're in the ZONE! We're in the window! This is the EXACT moment when everything can start sliding downhill and FAST when it comes to your health & fitness goals! It's amazing how QUICKLY your skinny jeans can become your "skin tight" jeans, and your energy & happiness levels begin to plummet! And that's just NO fun!
I used to think it was the stress. I would blame it on the extra pressures of the season. And then I got real with myself - it may have been some of these things, but really it came down to a nibble here, and a bite there, and before I knew it - YUP! - it was "tight pants Tuesday!"
But it wasn't about the jeans size I ended up with after Thanksgiving Day - it had NOTHING to do with the label number! It had EVERYTHING to do with how I FELT - the tight jeans were just what showed on the OUTSIDE.
On the INSIDE was how my energy wasn't consistent and how it started happening so quickly. How I was craving more & more sugar to keep myself going. How I KNEW I was in the vicious sugar-cycle but I couldn't break it.

So, what changed? When did I get to the point where I found balance? I'll be honest - it's still a daily work in progress. BUT, I know what trips me up and I know what to do BEFOREhand to make sure I stay on track with my goals.
So, here are my "TOP 10 Tips for Not Gaining '10' Thanksgiving Day Pounds."
1. Workout in the morning. Yes, I really mean that :) Whatever that may be. A run? Great! An at-home workout? Awesome!
A spin/yoga/pilates class? GET IT DONE! Make it non-negotiable! You will change your mindset immediately! You will feel supported! You'll get your sweat on, raise those endorphins, and start feeling awesome immediately! I promise!!
2. Eat breakfast in the morning. (Hopefully after that workout, see #1 :) ) Don't try to "save" those calories. Unless you're following an intermittent fasting program, don't try "banking" those calories. You'll start feeling run-down almost immediately - setting yourself up for high-calorie, sugar-laden indulgences! 2 scrambled eggs, 1/4 avocado, some Ezekiel toast & a cup of coffee - and call breakfast DONE! :)
3. Eat lunch around mid-day. Most Thanksgiving dinners aren't going to start until around 2pm. Eat lunch. Try a huge veggie salad with grilled chicken, nuts/seeds, quinoa, EVOO/vinegar.
5. Indulge. Yes, I said that :) - BUT, watch your portions. Load your plate first with turkey & fresh veggies. Then if you "have" to have that mac & cheese, take a small spoonful - and move along. Then save those "favs" to eat last. Enjoy them, and then be done with them.
6. BYOB! Going to a friend or family member's house? Bring your own Broccoli! Your own Brussels sprouts! Bring your own healthy meals and make enough for other people to share!
7. Know whatever you choose is totally ok. Listen, this is about YOU! If you know that you want to cut loose, eat what you want, take a day off, and just get back to things on Friday - then just do that! Seriously. Life is way too short to worry about 1 day. One meal won't make you overweight, just like 1 workout won't make you fit.
8. Workout on Friday morning. Not only will this help burn off any extra cals, you'll get back into your routine of fueling your body and doing something good for it. Raise those endorphins again. Feel awesome! Get your mind in a good place! This is not punishment! This is about CARING for and LOVING your body. 30 minutes of a good sweat and you're done :)
9. Realize Thanksgiving Day is just that - a DAY. Not 3 days. Not a week. If you indulge today, get back on track tomorrow. It's not a big deal. Get rid of the pies. Get rid of the white bread rolls. It's basically just sugar anyway, so don't feel badly about throwing it away. Keep the turkey. Keep the Brussels sprouts. 10. Give yourself GRACE. There's no "right" or "wrong." And for real - If these tips stress you out, make you upset, or worry that you're doing things "wrong", just take a deep breath. The point is to feel awesome, happy, confident and energetic with lots of extra love to share with others.
Normally by fueling your body with healthy, whole foods, you'll end up feeling that exact way!

Tonight’s dinner was Paleo chicken piccata w/cauliflower mashed “potatoes”. deeeeelicious!
(Paleo minus the small sprinkle of high quality parmesan. I like the extra sharp flavor it provides :))
This recipe is awesome! Clean up is SO easy and I love cooking the chicken piccata recipe all within the Instant Pot!
You can also cook the cauliflower in the IP. I prefer the stove for cauliflower because it takes about the same amount of time as the IP since you still have to wait for the IP to come to pressure (10 min) and cook (1 min).
